August 2020

Calling all interested Families, Schools, Clubs and Businesses for our 2020 Kilts for Kids!

We are in the final weeks for you to sign up now to participate in Kilts for Kids – a really fun fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities that you can do with your crew virtually – and make a big impact!

This year we are opening it up to EVERYBODY! Email us of you are a:

  • Girl Scout or Boy Scout Troop,
  • a Church Group,
  • a School,
  • a Book Club,
  • a Sports Team, or
  • a Business (and any other type of group)

The sky is the limit on who can participate!

This is the fundraiser where you and your best crew have a photo shoot wearing kilts (you can wear your own or we can provide the kilts!), then you help RMHC raise some money, and compete all month long to vie for the Kilts for Kids Crown and other fun prizes! You spread the word via email, social media, and other creative ways. The goals are determined by you and every dollar you raise helps the families we serve! We will help you every step of the way!

If you are interested in learning more, please email Stephanie Stevens.

RMHC Golf Tournament Was a Hole in One!

On August 17th we hosted our annual golf tournament at Jeremy Ranch and Golf and Country Club. Thank you to all of our sponsors, golfers, staff and volunteers for making this such a wonderful event. Not only did we raise an amazing amount of money to support pediatric patient families – we were also able to raise $500 in our putting contest to help provide 2 meals for the families being served by Ronald McDonald House Charities.

It was a beautiful (and hot!) day where we came together for a great mission. Can’t wait to see everyone on the course next year!

Share Your Story with us for National Childhood Cancer Month

Last year, the Ronald McDonald House served 711 families who had children battling cancer. One of our courageous pediatric patients who stayed with us is Kenzan Ployhar. We celebrated her story in our holiday card last year with this story:
“Kenzan is a bright, vivacious and bubbly 5 year old who has also been fighting stage 4 high risk Neuroblastoma since September 2018. Her family has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House as she has undergone chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplants, radiation and antibody therapy. Since she first arrived at the Ronald McDonald House, she became a big sister and started Kindergarten last year!”

If you have your own story about childhood cancer that you would like to share, we would love to spotlight it in September. Email your story and a photo to Lizzy.

If you have already recorded this story on social media or a blog, you can also send us the link.

Together, we can battle childhood cancer!

PSSST – Stay Tuned for an Exciting Announcement in September

We are so excited for an upcoming announcement with our amazing partner Cambia Health. Together we have been working on a new innovative program for palliative care and behavioral health that will provide exciting and needed resources for our RMHC families. We are getting ready for the big announcement next month and can’t wait to share the news with you!

Nominate the Brave Woman in Your Life

Did you know that the Fourth Friday in September is National Brave Day that is about honoring and empowering women!

Those of us who work at RMHC get to see firsthand the warrior mothers, sisters, grandmas, aunts and best friends who weather health battles with their child and loved ones, and we want to participate in National Brave Day to celebrate them.

Please email Lizzy with a photo, name and brief description. On Friday, September 25th we will do a series of Facebook and Instagram posts of the Brave women nominated! One lucky woman will be selected to receive a special gift from us at RMHC.

Back in March when everyone’s world changed with the COVID-19 pandemic, Qualtrics’ CEO, Ryan Smith made a commitment to help our local restaurant industry and non-profits to purchase 50 meals each day and donate them to a worthy cause. This commitment and his generosity are described in this article by KSL.

Ronald McDonald House has been the lucky recipient of many of these Qualtrics meals. Our families love the variety of food and we love seeing the resourcefulness and love in our community in action.

Thank you Ryan and Qualtrics for your thoughtful generosity.

Facebook Birthdays

Do you have an upcoming birthday? If so, we would love to be your choice for a birthday fundraiser. Birthday fundraisers made a big difference in the lives of the families we serve. Each fundraiser helps increase awareness and support for our organization.
