On Thursday, August 5th we officially opened our new Backyard Park and Greenspace located directly North of the Ronald McDonald House. The Park was actually completed during the pandemic in May 2020 and provides a beautiful outdoor greenspace, allowing our families a place to decompress, play and heal in nature.
The Park features access to walking paths for strollers, wheelchairs, and wagons while incorporating natural and accessible play areas, raised planters, benches, and tables. Also, the numerous trees and plantings will add healing beauty, clean air, and improve the mental and physical well-being of those that need it most.
We were so happy to have Rosie Parker, a truly exceptional little girl, cut the ribbon on behalf of the families RMHC serves. She was in a tragic car accident in 2019 and her family stayed with RMHC for many months as she fought hard in the hospital. They were told she may not survive, but she did and she’s amazing. She was the first child to play on the playground when it was finished last year, and she inspires everyone at RMHC with her magical courage, light, and love.
