RMHC Hits a Hole in One!
RMHC held our 33rd Annual Golf Tournament at Jeremy Ranch on August 16th. 144 players joined us to raise funds for our mission while playing a round of golf in a beautiful setting. Thanks to our sponsors and everyone who participated in the Silent Auction – we had another record-breaking year. The $115,000 raised at this tournament will be used to support pediatric patient families who need support while caring for their ill or injured child. Those funds go a long way in providing shelter, food, and transportation.

A special thank you to our sponsors who made this event so successful!

The Grand Opening of The Park That Love Built
by O.C. Tanner
On Thursday, August 5th we officially opened our new Backyard Park and Greenspace located directly North of the Ronald McDonald House. The Park was actually completed during the pandemic in May 2020 and provides a beautiful outdoor greenspace, allowing our families a place to decompress, play and heal in nature.

The Park features access to walking paths for strollers, wheelchairs, and wagons while incorporating natural and accessible play areas, raised planters, benches, and tables. Also, the numerous trees and plantings will add healing beauty, clean air, and improve the mental and physical well-being of those that need it most.

We were so happy to have Rosie Parker, a truly exceptional little girl, cut the ribbon on behalf of the families RMHC serves. She was in a tragic car accident in 2019 and her family stayed with RMHC for many months as she fought hard in the hospital. They were told she may not survive, but she did and she’s amazing. She was the first child to play on the playground when it was finished last year, and she inspires everyone at RMHC with her magical courage, light, and love.

Meet our New Family Support Services Manager
We are pleased to announce the new hire of Maria Gamvroulas as our Family Support Services Manager. Maria is a seasoned MSW LCSW with years of experience working with our partners at Intermountain Healthcare. She brings both her expertise and experience to this new role. She has jumped right in and is helping the families we serve navigate the health care system, available community resources, and provides emotional support as they navigate the health challenges of their child. We feel very lucky that she has chosen to work in this position for our organization.

Welcome Maria! We are so happy to have you here.

August is National Make A Will Month
August is National Make-a-Will Month and the best time of year to make plans for the people and causes you care about the most. Use FreeWill, a free online resource that guides you through the process of making a legally valid will and protecting the people you love. It only takes 20 minutes to use. You can also include an optional legacy gift to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area and help kids in the long run – today, tomorrow, and for generations to come – have a home-away-from-home.
Share Your Story for National Childhood Cancer Month
Last year, 15% of the families who stayed at the Ronald McDonald House were battling childhood cancer. September is National Childhood Cancer Month, and we want to do our part to share the courageous stories of these young warriors and their families and spread awareness that can lead to more funding and better treatments.

If you have a story about battling childhood cancer that you would be willing to share, we would love to spotlight it in September via our social media. Email your story and a photo to Lizzy.

If you have already recorded this story on social media or a blog, you can also send us the link.

Together, we can battle childhood cancer!

Facebook Birthdays 2021
Do you have an upcoming birthday? If so, we would love to be your choice for a birthday fundraiser. Birthday fundraisers made a big difference in the lives of the families we serve. Each fundraiser helps increase awareness and support for our organization.

And right now – every dollar you raise for your birthday fundraiser is matched 1:1 by Nate Wade Subaru until we reach $5,000!
