ConsultNet Congratulates RMHC

We are so honored that ConsultNet has recognized our achievement as being the Best Charity to Donate to in Utah by business.org through an electronic billboard campaign. Keep your eyes open as you drive up and down I-15 for this congratulatory message. It will run through the end of this year!

Celebrating 2nd Anniversary Family Room Level 2

On Friday, December 6, The Ronald McDonald Family Room – 2nd Level celebrated their 2nd Anniversary! The 2nd level Family Room serves families who are in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neuro Trauma Unit and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. We will have had over 2,000 visits in this room alone in 2019.  We couldn’t do what we do without the amazing people who work for Primary Children’s Hospital. So, we took this opportunity to deliver thank you cookies and cards to them! It was a great way to celebrate our Anniversary!

IPETPALS for Pediatric Patients

Keyontae, pictured above, has spent countless hours and days in the hospital throughout his life. They have spent time in our Family Room and have volunteered numerous times at our Ronald McDonald House. Now, he and his Mom want to give back in a different way. They have partnered with @ipetpals so that individuals can purchase and donate a stuffed animal that has a speaker inside of it – perfect for little ones and bigger ones who find themselves at the hospital. On top of all that, each animal that is purchased for a child facing a serious illness or injury will come with a $5 cash donation to our Ronald McDonald House Charities. Look for them on Facebook by searching @ipetpals

Thanks Keyontae for paying it forward with something so unique!

Round Up for RMHC is Here

We are so thrilled to be announcing Round-Up for RMHC at your local participating McDonald’s.

“With every cent donated to RMHC, McDonald’s customers are providing families something priceless, time together. With your donations you will be providing things like home-cooked meals, private bedrooms, fully equipped kitchens and laundry facilities near to the medical care they need at leading hospitals, including Primary Children’s Hospital and Shriner’s Hospital in Salt Lake.”

Through December 22, McDonald’s crews will prompt customers to “Round-Up for RMHC” and after that it will be available if you ask them to Round-Up. So, when you are in the mood for a Big Mac or a Happy Meal, please remember to prompt your local McDonald’s to “Round-Up” your order. Your small change makes big change in the lives of the pediatric patients we serve!

Philanthropy Day Award

For National Philanthropy Day, we honored two of our amazing volunteers who share their time and talents in our Ronald McDonald House and our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms located at Primary Children’s Hospital.

Linda Leckman has been a dedicated volunteer for over 3 years who, in addition to her work at the Family Room serving the pediatric ICU, also volunteers weekly as one of Ollie’s personal handlers.

Karen Orr has volunteered with us for over 4 years, works shifts in both Family Rooms, brings meals and donations to benefit our families and has engaged her community/family in the support of the Family Room.

We literally could not do what we do without amazing volunteers like them. From the bottom of our hearts – thank you for your service.

Utah Top Workplaces 2019 Award

We were honored to have been recognized as one of Utah’s Top Workplaces in 2019 by The Salt Lake Tribune. We have approximately 40 staff members who are passionate about creating a home-away-from-home for the pediatric patient families we serve.

Carrie Romano, our CEO told Salt Lake Tribune that “we see some of the best parts of humanity; kids with serious illnesses who are courageous beyond their years; warrior moms and dads who stand beside them; volunteers giving their time and donors giving away their own treasures. The charity can’t deliver on its mission, however, without also having an engaged and dedicated staff. We make sure staff feels healthy and supported, so they can in turn support children and their families.”

Most Popular Facebook Post in November

The post that got the most reactions in November was our Giving Tuesday Fundraiser. We highlighted Kenzan’s story of fighting cancer and staying at our House for 332 days before she was able to go home. This story inspired likes, shares and generous donations. In the end, our Facebook Fundraiser helped us to meet and exceed our goal of raising $10,000 in one day. Our final total from online, web, and in-person donations was just over $16,000. That is a lot of nights for our pediatric patient families. Thank you for making this our most popular post of the month!

Year End Giving

Tis the Season!

Only a short time left before it’s 2020… but don’t worry, there is still time to make an impact for families with seriously ill or injured children by making a charitable gift to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area (RMHC).

2019 has been an incredible year of growth and outreach in support of families with hospitalized children, and it’s not over yet!  Your gift can reach hearts and help families be stronger together in times when they need extra support.

We are honored to report that RMHC has once again received the top 4-star rating (4 out of 4) from Charity Navigator. This rating is awarded to non-profits with practices of sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency that exceed industry standards and outperform similar charities. We are also pleased and truly honored to have been recognized by Business.org as the best charity to donate to in Utah. Our donors are the heart of our sustainability as an effective organization, and the key to ensuring that families of hospitalized children can still find themselves at home.
