COVID-19 and Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area

Our highest priority is the health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers. As the novel coronalvirus (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the world, we wanted to share some of the actions RMHC Intermountain Area is taking to prepare and protect our team and the pediatric patient families we serve. Supporting Patient Families at Primary Children’s Hospital

Due to increased restrictions at Primary Children’s Hospital to help mitigate the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) all volunteer groups have been temporarily suspended. This means one of our core mission programs of providing meals to the families through our Ronald McDonald Family Room has also been impacted at a time that pediatric patient families need us the most. CLICK HERE to learn about how you can help support pediatric patient families during this extraordinary time.

Introducing Chris Sparrer-Baer, our 2020 Board Chair

Chris Sparrer-Baer is the 2020-2021 RMHC Board Chair. She is an amazing local business woman and proud McDonald’s owner/operator, longtime champion of RMHC’s mission and inspiring leader. We are so fortunate to have her on our team. Thank you Chris for your volunteer leadership to serve more pediatric patient families and serve them better!

Check out our Newest Arrival

Thanks to Heather Kahlert and The Kahlert Foundation, we have received an amazing new van that will provide regular shuttle runs to our surrounding hospital partners: Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Primary Children’s Hospital and the University of Utah.

The van/shuttle features a wheelchair lift that will allow us to safely transport all of our pediatric patients and their families with ease. Thank you also to Apex Wraps for donating the actual wrap on the van and to our very own Lizzy Totman for her design of the pediatric patient superheroes – who are the inspiration for the work we do. Everywhere we go, people will know that Ronald McDonald House Charities is the House That Love Built and that we are #keepingfamiliesclose.

Ronald McDonald Hospitality Carts – 2019 by the Numbers

In 2017, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area launched two Hospitality Cart programs; one at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Salt Lake City and one at Ogden Regional Medical Center.

The purpose of the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Carts is to provide some comfort and necessities to families who are being treated at these partner hospitals. Whether it’s a day of appointments or an inpatient stay, we know that the Hospitality Cart makes the long hours a little easier.

The Hospitality Cart is stocked with hygiene and comfort items, a selection of healthy snacks, family-centered activities, games and craft kits.

Here’s how the programs did in 2019:

1,775 Families Served

4,209 Individuals Served

518 Volunteer Hours
