RMHC’s Grandparents Fund Provides
Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience

Special moments and experiences bring families together and create meaningful and lasting memories. This is especially true when time becomes precious and day-to-day life just isn’t routine anymore due to unforeseen medical diagnoses and the challenging health issues of a child. The Honorary Grandparents Fund establishes a wellspring of funding to provide lasting memories to children and families facing life-altering medical conditions. Recently, Derrick Favors provided one of these lasting memories to Hayden Blonquist, a 17-year old recently diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL).

Martinez Family

When you are told that your 6-week old child is not going to make it, to hear the worst possible words leave the doctor’s mouth, it is hard to find joy in anything. My husband and I named our son Sawyer Legend and he is nothing short of that. My son was admitted with a horrible injury and we were told he would not make it. After a month spent at the hospital, watching the pure will power of this little boy overcoming such monstrous obstacles, we decided to finally make a trip to the Ronald McDonald House. In a time when we could not find good in anything, the Ronald McDonald House swooped in and helped us pick up the pieces of our lives. The volunteers were amazing; the support and the overwhelming graciousness of everyone there helped us to pull through – so that we could be around our little boy as he pulled through…and he did! He is now just shy of his 2nd birthday and has defied all odds. He is a legend in every sense of the word. Thank you for standing by us, so we could stand by our son.

It’s our 30th Anniversary in Octoberand you’re invited to celebrate with us!

There’s one word that can sum up everything great that’s happened over the last 30 years at the Ronald McDonald House: LOVE. Love has helped many thousands of children and families to be stronger together. Love has encouraged families from far away to grow closer together. And, maybe most importantly—love has enabled our doors to stay open for thirty years. How do we celebrate 30 years of love? By saying thank you for your support and the privilege we have in serving you, our community. And the best way we knew how was to plan an event where we could all come together: a carnival with treats, games, a petting zoo, and house tours that provide a peek inside what we do every day.

Please join us on Saturday, October 27th at the Ronald McDonald House from 11am – 3pm where we will celebrate the last 30 years, and look forward to our next 30 years. We hope to see you there!

Cornerstones of Love –
Grand Giver Program:

We are grateful to have earned the support of a record number of Grand Givers in 2017 with over 200 participants in our Cornerstones of Love Grand Giver Program! We were delighted to show our gratitude with a lovely Grand Giver Toast and Appreciation Dinner last October at La Caille. The entire event was generously underwritten by our gracious hosts ensuring Grand Giver donations would go directly to support the families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities.

This year’s appreciation dinner is fast approaching!  We hope that you will consider becoming a Grand Giverfor 2018 and join us for fine wine and great cuisine at an exclusive Cornerstones of Love Grand Givers Toast and Appreciation Dinner this month on October 18th at La Caille. The entire evening will once again be underwritten by our generous event hosts, allowing us to provide the highest quality evening for our Grand Givers.

Our Cornerstones of Love Grand Giver Program is comprised of a special group of individuals who make a personal annual direct gift of $1,000 or greater to ensure that the doors of the Ronald McDonald House remain open to all who need our services, now and in the future. Grand Givers are undoubtedly the cornerstone of love for thousands of families each year; coming together with a shared vision and determination to better our community. As a Grand Giver to RMHC you are the foundation of our work – you provide the profound, immediate support that makes our day-to-day programming possible and directly impacts families in need.

To view a brochure that includes giving levels and benefits of being a Cornerstones of Love Grand Giver, please click here.  Donations can be made in one lump sum or through monthly, quarterly or bi-annual installments, as well as an annual recurring gift. Your contribution will help to ease daily burdens and empower families of hospitalized children with meaningful experiences and quality time together.

If you have any questions about the Cornerstones of Love Grand Giver Program, the Appreciation Dinner, or Ronald McDonald House Charities, please contact Vickie Moschetti, Chief Stewardship & Major Gifts Officer at 801-363-4663 or vickie@rmhslc.org.
