October 2019

Why is Ollie Wearing A Kilt?

It is that time of year, October, when Ollie and other passionate and dedicated individuals and teams put on a Kilt and raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. This year, we have 7 amazing teams, including a return of our favorite weatherman, Sterling Poulson and last year’s champion, Jim Turnbull. Of course Ollie has his own team with his amazing partner Eli (who happens to be the first person ever to wear a kilt for kids!) Donate today and help your favorite team or teams earn their votes while helping a great cause! You can learn more about our teams and donate/vote by clicking HERE.

Planning Your own Legacy of Love

Many of our supporters choose to provide for our future through planned gifts. Unlike cash donations, planned gifts are typically made from assets in your estate rather than from disposable income, and may come to fruition after your lifetime. If you would be interested in learning more about creating your own legacy that will benefit pediatric patient families well into the future, we would love to invite you to join us at our upcoming luncheon. Victor Rickman from Wells Fargo Advisors and Bill Whitaker from Sloan & Sloan P.C. will give a presentation on the tax and additional advantages of planned giving as well as the process as it relates to estate planning. The luncheon will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019 from Noon – 1PM at the Ronald McDonald House at 935 E South Temple.  If interested, please RSVP by November 4th to Vickie.

Cornerstones of Love Grand Giver Appreciation Dinner

It’s not too late to secure your invitation to one of the most beautiful events we host each year – our appreciation dinner for our Grand Givers. This dinner features a menu that is carefully selected to pair with the incredible wines donated by our sponsors and held at La Caille. It is an evening that all who attend look forward to each year. If you are interested in supporting pediatric patient families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities with a individual gift of $1,000 or greater, please email Vickie Moschetti. She would love to be able to secure your seats at this event to be held at La Caille on Thursday, October 24th.

You Loved It!

The post that got the most reactions in September is not a surprise. On September 5th we welcomed Ian McDiarmid and Hayden Christensen from Star Wars and John Rhys-Davies from Lord of the Rings to our Family Room at Primary Children’s Hospital. It was a day that “The Force Was With Us”!

We want to start sharing our most popular Facebook posts from the previous month. If you would like to stay up to date on family stories, staff and volunteer highlights, and other announcements from the House, like and follow us on our Facebook and Instagram!

Happy Birthday to Us!

It has been an honor to serve the community for 31 years by providing a home-away-from-home for pediatric patients and their families. Since opening our doors on October 22, 1988 in the original 13-room House, the mission has grown to now include an expanded 72-room House on the same location, 2 Family Rooms located at Primary Children’s Hospital, and 2 Hospitality Carts that serve patients at Ogden Regional Medical Center and Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Last year, we served a record-breaking 15,000 families through these programs, and are on track to serve even more families this year. And that is truly something to celebrate. Community Auctions Raise Money For Families

Our friends at Community Auctions raise money for us by hosting sports memorabilia auctions at area businesses. Currently, you can find their auctions at a variety of hotels like Hampton Inn, restaurants like Pats BBQ and family fun centers like Boondocks.  If you happen to see one of their displays, check them out and maybe you can bid to win some rare memorabilia! Community Auctions is a wonderful organization committed to raising funds for worthy nonprofit organizations. So far in 2019 they have raised almost $17,000 for our Ronald McDonald House Charities which is the equivalent of providing over 200 overnight stays for our families. If you are interested in learning more about them, check out their website.
