PCH Family Room Level 2

Parents with a seriously ill or injured child at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital can rest and recharge in the newly-completed Ronald McDonald Family Room on Level 2.  The room is a beautiful, soft landing spot, offering a quiet, dedicated private respite space for parents with a child being treated in the Pediatric ICU, Neuro Trauma Unit, and Cardiac ICU. While this Family Room is just for parents, waiting rooms as well as the Family Room on Level 3 are available for families, children and guests to visit together.

The Level 2 Family Room at Primary Children’s Hospital opened on December 6, 2017. The 1,123-square-foot facility is a space for parents just steps away from their child’s patient room. It includes a quiet respite area, kitchenette with snacks and beverages, restroom, shower and laundry areas, as well as four retreat rooms for daytime naps and overnight stays.

Katy Welkie, Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital CEO, has said, “Having a seriously ill or injured child is often a very difficult time for parents and caregivers. Families on Level 2 have patients with the highest acuity who tend to be the sickest and need somewhere to step away for a few minutes to regain their own strength so that they can, in turn, better support their child during treatment. This new Family Room provides respite for parents and caregivers who need it most.”
