Cars 4 Kids

Fall in Utah is known for unpredictable weather, amazing colors and views as the leaves change, and (increasingly) the exciting Cars 4 Kids event to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area! Saturday, September 23 brought autumn home along with the organization’s third annual – and most successful – toy drive that serves families with ill or injured children in Salt Lake area medical centers. More than 75 luxury and muscle cars participated in a three-day tour of Utah, and after two-and-a-half days of gorgeous fall weather ended the drive at the Ronald McDonald House in a steady drizzle. The rain didn’t get anyone down, however! With delicious food provided by R&R Barbeque and a mind-boggling mountain of nearly 2,000 donated toys on display, as well as a chance to ogle some incredible cars, participants and guest families were in high spirits.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all the sponsors and drivers who participated in the event. Visitors stopped in for tours and to learn more about the mission of RMHC, and we are grateful for all the interest and support. We’d especially like to thank Luxe Auto Spa and Cars 4 Kids for bringing together an amazing group of generous, dedicated friends – and for making such an impact on the lives and well-being of our wonderful guest families!

Beaujolais Nouveau

Beaujolais Nouveau is a century-old tradition that celebrates the first grapes of the season grown in the Burgundy region of France. It has become an international event signified by the release of the fruity, young wine each year on the third Thursday of November, at the stroke of midnight.  The Red Shoe Society is joining in this tradition by hosting their second annual fundraising event benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities which features a cocktail reception, silent auction, open bar, gourmet dinner, live entertainment, and dancing. Proceeds from this event allow us to celebrate our mission and strengthen our ability to ease the burdens of families with a seriously ill or injured child so they can focus on what matters most – the well-being of their child.

Join us to uncork the world’s largest wine party on November 17, 2017 at the LaCaille, known for its uncompromising gourmet menu and majestic views of Little Cottonwood Canyon.  Click here to be a sponsor or purchase tickets.

McDonald’s National Fundraiser

Held in restaurants in November, customers can donate $1, $3 or $5 each time they visit McDonald’s and will receive a coupon for a free fry or hashbrown on their next visit.  The 2017 Fundraiser will be held November 7-19. All of the funds raised at the local stores will go back to our local RMHC.

Welcome Home

To “adopt” is to “choose or take as one’s own”, and with pets, people, and other living things it usually includes an implication of “to care for”. It’s an extraordinary idea, that something or someone can grow to be part of your heart, often part of your home, because of the choice you make to open up and become inclusive. Here at Ronald McDonald House Charities “adoption”’ is what we do: perhaps not in the legal sense, but by bringing families and children into our hearts, the Ronald McDonald House and Family Rooms… by bringing those who need some extra help and attention “home”.

On the flip side, we (the Charity) are just as often “adopted”: by our inspiring guest families, by our incredibly dedicated volunteers, and by the families, corporations, and foundations that have made our mission to care for others their own by making sure that our Home remains open 24/7. Our “Adopt-a-Room” program sponsors are a remarkable group of donors who make an immediately impactful gift that underwrites the costs of a family’s stay at the Ronald McDonald House or Family Rooms. With an annual gift they adopt personal, protected spaces that bring comfort, security, and hope to anxious families and frightened children, and help us make sure that no family is ever turned away because of an inability to pay. Their names are displayed proudly, lovingly, on the door or inside the room they sponsor – a testament to their compassion for all who sleep, eat, cry, relax, laugh, and enjoy time together as a family to see throughout the year of that sponsorship.

Please consider adopting a room with Ronald McDonald House Charities today. For an annual gift of $2,500 you or your organization could sponsor a guest room at the House for an entire year; a gift of $5,000 could “adopt” a Retreat Room in the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at Primary Children’s Hospital or an extended-stay suite for the families of immunocompromised children at the House. There are other possible levels of participation as well – please call us with any questions, and stop by for a tour! We would love to show you the full impact of what it means to choose to make a part of Ronald McDonald House Charities your own… and welcome you as part of our family, too. Call and ask about the “Adopt-a-Room” program or stop by today!
